For the very small chain links. I cut a spiral scroll saw blade in half then epoxy the two halves in a wooden handle with the teeth pointing in opposite directions. This makes a tiny rasp for cleaning the inside of very small links.

 Same Stubai knife as above with the blade rounded and shortened to 1 inch and the handle shortened to 4 inches. You can modify your own with an extra coarse whetstone or a grinding wheel in your rotary tool. Be sure to keep the blade cool by dipping it in water every two seconds. 
How to ModifyThese are the blades of the Stubai knife before and after. The top blade is a standard detail knife, the cutting edge is 1 ¼ inch. The bottom blade has been ground down to a rounded point and is 1 inch long. You can grind your blade with a rotary tool. DO NOT get the blade hot - dip it in water every 2 or 3 seconds. You can also use an extra course whet stone but this will take an hour or longer. |
